In 2014, the French club Marseilles signed midfielder Abou Diaby on a three-year deal from Arsenal for €27 million. Despite his high transfer fee, he struggled to establish himself in the team and only made eight appearances for them that season. However, Diaby's fortunes changed dramatically after he joined Olympique de Marseille in January 2015.
Diaby scored two goals in his first game for Olympique de Marseille against Montpellier. He then scored another goal in his second game against Caen. In total, he scored four goals in just five games, making him one of the top performers in Ligue 1 during the 2015-16 season.
Diaby's impressive form earned him a place in the French national team's squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He played as a substitute in the opening match against Japan but did not score any goals. In the second round of the tournament,Serie A Observation he started in the match against Peru and scored a brace (two goals) to help France win the match 4-2.
Diaby continued his impressive form throughout the rest of the tournament, scoring three more goals in the remaining matches against South Korea and Spain. His performance in the Olympics helped him secure a spot in the final 23-man squad for the 2016 UEFA European Championship.
At the end of the tournament, Diaby was named the Best Young Player of the Tournament and was also awarded the Golden Ball as the tournament's best player. This recognition cemented his reputation as one of the most promising young talents in world football.
Diaby's record-breaking goals at Olympique de Marseille have since been matched by several other players, including Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann. The French club has also become known for producing some of the best young talents in world football, with Diaby being just one example of this trend.
